Town centre finish

Ironman UK had been on the top of my Wish List¬† for at least nine years. I had stood and watched in admiration at all those competing in the Bolton Ironman and wondered what would it be like to complete an Ironman? What an achievement to run a marathon after a 112 mile bike ride and 2.4 mile swim. So in August 2017 I decided to see what the fuss was all about an embark on my own Ironman Journey…

Cyclists will embark on a 112-mile, two-loop journey from Pennington Flash and onto the breathtaking Lancashire countryside. The bike course includes the famous Sheep House Lane climb twice where spectators can get up close and personal with the athletes in true Tour de France style. The run begins at T2 at Queens Park and athletes will head into Bolton town centre, out and back through Queens Park completing four loops before finishing in Victoria Square.
